Der ugandische Präsident Yoweri Museveni hat im Mai diesen Jahres eines der strengsten Anti-Homosexuellen-Gesetze der Welt verabschiedet, das die Todesstrafe für „schwere Homosexualität“ vorsieht. Obwohl gleichgeschlechtliche Beziehungen in Uganda, wie in über 30 weiteren afrikanischen Ländern, bereits als illegal galten, geht das neue Gesetz noch einen Schritt weiter. Es sieht die Todesstrafe vor für „Wiederholungstäter“ vor, die sowohl gegen das Gesetz verstoßen als auch eine tödliche Krankheit wie HIV/AIDS durch homosexuelle Handlungen übertragen. Außerdem drohen Menschen, die für Homosexualität „werben“, 20 Jahre Gefängnis.

Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung wird der Aktivist Jay Mulucha über die aktuelle Situation von LSBT*IQ in Uganda sprechen. Die Vortragssprache ist Englisch.

The Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni passed one of the strictest anti-homosexual laws in the world this May, which includes the death penalty for „aggravated homosexuality.“ Although same-sex relationships were already considered illegal in Uganda, as in more than 30 other African countries, the new law goes a step further. It provides for the death penalty for „repeat offenders“ who both violate the law and transmit a deadly disease such as HIV/AIDS through homosexual acts. In addition, people who „promote“ homosexuality face 20 years in prison.

In the lecture, activist Jay Mulucha will talk about the current situation of LGBT*IQ community in Uganda. The talk will be in English.
